Firstly, its strong following means that a search for “Ellen DeGeneres” on Google will bring up her Twitter page ahead of her TV show. This is because social media platforms get so much traffic, and the more actively you’re posting, the more updates search engines are perceiving.
Secondly, social platforms have their own search engine for finding accounts, keywords, and discussions which could also see you get discovered (not to mention their shares, retweets, likes, favourites and hashtags).
Adding to this, many marketers now think “Social is the new SEO”, due to the amount of time the majority of people spend on social media. 90% of Kiwis aged 15+ use social media, 2.9 million are on Facebook, with 2.3 million using it daily.
